Endpoint through a passive path
Compare the endpoint with and without the riser.
PCIe x1 to x16 slot extension extends a PCIe connection. Capture the actual endpoint beyond it; a passive riser does not have a separate PCI address to inspect.
- Check mechanical fit, supported generation, electrical lane count and power against the complete system documentation.
- Establish a direct-slot baseline for the endpoint where the system permits it, then repeat with the riser while changing nothing else.
- Import the endpoint’s Linux evidence into Header7F and compare both link partners and time-bounded AER observations. Preserve the slot and cable arrangement with each capture.
